ACHIEV2E

ACHIEV2E (A Collaboration on HIV-2 Infection) werd opgericht in 2005 als een samenwerkingsverband tussen 13 observationele cohortstudies en centra in 10 Europese landen, Gambia en Noord-Amerika, die demografische en klinische gegevens van hiv-2-geïnfecteerde patiënten vastlegt. Omdat hiv-2 vooral in West-Afrika voorkomt en slechts zelden in westerse landen gevonden wordt, is er maar een beperkt aantal studies dat zich specifiek richt op hiv-2. Vooral het effect van antiretrovirale behandeling op het beloop van de infectie is nog niet gedetailleerd bestudeerd. Door verschillende aspecten van de behandelde hiv-2-infectie te bestuderen, hoopt de ACHIEV2E-samenwerking dit gat in de kennis op te vullen.
