SHM: structural grant
SHM activities are health-related and non-commercial. SHM is recognised as an official healthcare organisation and receives a structural grant from the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports via the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), which provides a budget for the monitoring of HIV in the Netherlands. As such, the Dutch government acknowledges the importance of national monitoring of HIV and AIDS. This strongly contributes to the knowledge and insights into effects of lifelong HIV treatment on survival and morbidity and the course of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Netherlands and other EU countries. In addition, SHM receives income from national and international HIV/AIDS related projects.
