What happens after an HIV diagnosis
In the Netherlands, following a positive diagnosis, you will usually be referred to one of the 24 HIV treatment centres by either your family doctor or the HIV testing centre. You will receive information from your HIV physician or nurse consultant about registration and monitoring by SHM. Before SHM can start collecting your data, your doctor or nurse consultant will ask you for your permission.
The short film below explains how you can give and withdraw your permission, and the measures we take to encrypt and protect your data.
